Byemoor has managed to survive but not without a struggle. At its peak, it had a population of 150. Its beginning was in 1924 and almost immediately began to accumulating businesses and buildings. By 1926 it had two general stores, a hardware store, a barbershop, two restaurants, a lumberyard, a blacksmith shop, two grain elevators, a harness and boot repair shop, dance hall, hotel, and even a hospital. In time, Byemoor lost two-thirds of its population and well over half its business establishments. But all is not lost. Byemoor lies in the heart of what is a “hunter’s paradise” due to the numerous lakes interspersed through the prairie parkland. It could bring both fishing enthusiasts and nature lovers to the area as well as ghost towners visiting the district. H.B. Chenoweth
