Hartshorn got its start in 1908 as a post office on the homestead of a Bert Hartshorn. While the village lasted, it had a blacksmith shop, a general store, a creamery, a community hall, and an Anglican Mission. When the railroad bypassed the town by a good three miles in 1925, the village was doomed. Today, there is nothing left but memories of this little prairie hamlet.
