ANIOX

NAME: Aniox
COUNTY: Nass Valley
ROADS: 4WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Heavy snow in winter, hot in summer.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer
COMMENTS: No residents, half an hour southeast of Kitsault BC. Accessible only by water via the abservitory inlet. Aniox was a gold mine and mill town, the tailings pond was dumped into the ocean creating a black sand ,which was later used by residents for golfing. The mill , one smoke stack, a dock, a dam, some buildings and above ground gravesites. The town was damaged/destroyed by forest fire more than once. I believe the town was built around world war II as there were canon ball holes in some of the existing walls of several buildings. It was used as a vacation area by surrounding residents of Kitsault while working at their mine.
REMAINS: Reminents of the town.
