First know as “Jones Settlement”
after the town’s first postmaster, Richard Jones, it was later renamed
after Queen Victoria’s consort, Prince Albert. The community never
grew beyond a church, blacksmith, post office, and the Albert Cheese Company.
The population was about 100 in 1886 and 50 in 1908. |
