Brent was a divisional ponit on The Canadian Northern Railway, between Pembroke and Capreol. Built in 1915, the facilities would soon contain a round house, water tanks, coal chute, maintenance sheds, shops, and station. It also added a general store, scool, church and post office (1928-78). from 1921-32 The Brent Lumber Co, operated a sawmill half a mile west of the settlement. The Diesielisation rendered the divisional point useless by the 1960's and closed in the early 1970's. Brent at that time counted 160 residents. In 1978 the government refused to maintain the long dirt road, and ordered the residents put of the park (for the winter at least). As the rails were torn up in 1996, the station and numerous buildings have since disapeared. Submitted by: Yvan P.Charbonneau
