The first town site (Inco's) ligned the road from here and around a bend. the second (Mond Nickel Co.)was situated farther back at the Frood Extension Mine. Both companies merged in 1929 to economically and safely mine this huge minning site. the Frood Extension was engulfed in a pit (1950's), while the Inco site was torn down in the 1970's. Frood Mine Town Site was once an incorporated village, containning 120 residents (with both town sites 300 before 1929). Apost office opened in 1913-16, and again from 1924-38. The mine closed in 1999-2000. Submitted by: Yvan P.Charbonneau |
