True Ghost. REMAINS: Foundations and ruins. |
The settlement of Longlac is the eastern limit of the Geraldton Gold Fields that extended westward to Lake Nipigon. The gold rush of the 1930s saw no less than a dozen townsites spring up throughout the area to support the miners and their families. Some deposits played out in a few years. Others operated for up to thirty years before closing. The Geraldton Gold Fields offer numerous relics of what was once a busy cluster of mines and townsites. Submitted by: Henry Chenoweth |
