Opened in 1898 by lake superior power, owned by francis hector clergue, the mine counted a shaft house , rock house, later it added a smelter. A small village encompassing 400 residents was soon in place, containing, a station, post office (1902-09), and store. After the mine closed in 1909, many remained in the towm site and commuted. It was finally definately gone by 1920. Submitted by: Yvan P.Charbonneau |
