REMAINS: 1 collapsed house, and much minning relics from 6 different mine sites, containing shaft houses, hoistrooms, or foundations
It began in 1904 with the Cobalt Silver Boom. Two small communities sprang up nearby each other (e few hundred yards). The site was linked to the T&NO with a 6 mile spur in 1907. Kerr LAke had a station, Giroux Lake the post office (1906-27). As the community grew it included a store, a billiard hall, Prebyterian and Methodist Churches, school (1908-39), bunkhouses and a number of cwellings. The line was electrified in 1914 and a Tramway station connected Cobalt to the Groiux Lake Station.As the mines closed in the late 20's most left, but not all. In 1956 there was till 56 residents in the area.The site is also where Dr. Drummond a renown poet, doctor, and mine owner, died at his home after fighting the small pox epedemic in 1907 which affected the entire Cobalt area.
