Milnet began as a railside mill town. Before it became a town, it was a remote station and watering stop for the Canadian Northern Railroad. Because of the railroad, lumbering began in 1917 and continued for twenty-two years. During this time, the mill cut more than 100 million feet of pine lumber. The town was essentially a company town as the lumber company laid out the streets and built some two dozen grand two story homes for its employees. Some of the homes still stand but the town is deserted. Submitted by: Henry Chenoweth |
