The fishing ghost town of Quebec
Harbour on Michipicoten Island requires a trip across the unpredictable
water of Lake Superior. Slightly larger than Gargantua, Quebec Harbour contained
a net shed, ice house, a cook house, blacksmith shop, and a least a half
dozen cabins. On the north shore, a copper mine began operating in the 1840s.
It consisted of a smelter, crushing house and a number of boarding houses.
By the 1930s, it was a ghost town. |
