When the British army engineers surveyed the
north shore of Lake Ontario for the arrival of the Loyalists, they laid
out roads, farm lots and village sites. One was Sandhurst. It failed to
develop into a port of any significance. Despite its extensive village plot
and wharf, it remained little more than a rural hamlet with a post office
and three churches. |
