REMAINS:
At its peak of 40 residents, this hamlet counted only a general store, a Baptist Church, a community hall, a sawmill, and a few private homes. Although several trains puffed through Whitehall daily, few stopped because of its small size. When a washout damaged a bridge in 1933, the frequency of trains dropped sharply. Soon after, train service ended entirely. The station was removed and the tracks lifted. The post office was closed in 1947 and Whitehall became a ghost town of its former self.
