Another small village which arose in the Kippawa wood, was Brennan Lake. SSettled aroun the 1880's around lumbering and trapping, it was also a depot centre for local lumber camps, since natives were producing sizeable surpluses from their small farm clearing. At its height (~1905) the village boasted a Roman Catholic mission, store, school, and a dozen homes (60 people). It gradually declined after the influenza epidemic of 1918, and was officially abandonned in the 1940's. Submitted by: Yvan P.Charbonneau |
