NAME: Fosteron COUNTY: has no county name ROADS: 2WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: snow in winter, hot in summer BEST TIME TO VISIT: summer fall and spring |
COMMENTS:
Fosterton is north of the trans Canada Highway in the Gull Lake Area. It was a thriving community and a railroad center. REMAINS: There are no village or town remains. The railroad is discontinued. There is a church on a rural road with a cemetary. It is well maintained, but not used. There are still people on farms and oil is a very important product in the area. |
I do not know of the number of residents during the pioneer era. There must be someone who would have more information. I have relatives in the area, but lived in Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Rockglen, Marquis and then BC, so perhaps someone could give the history. Submitted by: Donaleen M Choquer |
