2-3-99 GERMAN TV AT
SOUTHERN CROSS AND HEAV LOGGING
Greetings to our Southern Cross ghostown preservation supporters:
Thanks as always for your thoughts, prayers, and dollar
bills. We really
appreciate knowing you are out there.
It would have been a quiet winter in Southern Cross except
that the company
has brought in hight-tech logging equipment and is taking what
looks like
thousands of board feet of timber from the slopes around the
town. Supporters
and residents are of many opinions, some feeling like the loggins
is a
devastation of the old forest, others feeling like it was a helpful
and
necessary thinning operation (Oh well, we can't agree on EVERYTHING).
Last weekend German national television spent two days
filiming in Southern
Cross. Former residents Rudy Autio, Ruth Johnson and Marta Neemi
came by to
help. For more information see the "news" at:

Again, thanks for your support. |
