Angel City was a promoter's dream and an investor's nightmare. Many people from the East with money were suckered into investing in this false claim. Promoter George Sanders in 1901 formed two companies to open the mines and a small city and steam hoist followed but the shafts were sunk into plain old "leevaright" which was worthless. The flow of money stopped and so did the town. Today there is nothing left but a picture.
