Mojave City's post office was established October 8, 1866 and discontinued October 31, 1938. Mojave City was a river landing on the Colorado river from 1863 until about 1869. The town was a mile north of Fort Mojave, a military outpost. When the boundaries of the reservations were changed in 1869, Mojave City was within these new boundaries and was forced to pack up and move. Today, nothing is left of the original town site.
