Originally located by Harrison Yarnell, the claim was soon bought out by the Yarnell Gold Mining company. They built a 20-stamp mill and many other buildings and a post office was opened in 1892. Two years later the operation was shut down due to low grade ore. Then, in the in the early 1900's and then again in the 1930's the claims were worked again but to no avail.
