Buzzard Roost was on the Stage Rd. from Redding to Burney. Buzzard Roost Rd. turns off CA State Highway 299 just north of the site. There was a hotel/stage stop on the south side of Cow Creek where Buzzard Roost Rd. bridge crosses the creek. The name came from a remark made about some drunks sitting on the rail of a corral fence.
