DORELESKA

NAME: Doreleska
COUNTY: Trinity
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Deep snow in winter, beautiful summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer
COMMENTS: Directions: From I-5 heading North - at Redding take Hwy. 299 West. At Weaverville take Hwy. 3 to Coffee Creek Road. Go up Coffee Creek road about 7 miles to the small Trail Head for Union Creek. From here you can hike or ride horses or mules into Doreleska. It's about 4 miles in, and the last mile is steep uphill. OR, you can drive all the way to the end of Coffee Creek Road to Big Flat Camp Ground. This is a nice camp-ground to stay at. From here you can reach Doreleska by taking the trail thru Yellow Rose Mine. Again, about 4 miles in by trail, all up-hill and then down-hill into Doreleska. Coffee Creek road is paved the first few miles, then turns to dirt. It is a well-maintained and used road in the summer. Closed in the winter because of snow. It's an easy 2WD road. Note: Coffee Creek got it's name during the mining days because of the color of the water, as a result of the mining activity. Today it is a beautiful clear creek.
REMAINS: Many mining relics
