New Chicago was a mining camp of the 1850s,built up near the Gover Mine.It had about twenty houses.Aaron Mason had a boaring house and bar for the miners in New Chicago.Seth Jennings had a grocery store next to Malson's Hotel.The Malson Hotel was built in 1878,at the cost of $3,000.The hotel was 34x48 feet,with a kitchen in the rear.New Chicago was a fairy large town in the 1850s.
