Taison was established in 1860 as a stage stop.The town was named after Captain G.P.Taison.In 1870 a ship canal was dug from Taison to Hog Slough.In the mid-1880s Taison had a general merchandise store,a brick yard,a grain buying and storage firm,a justice of the peace,a harness and saddle maker,a blacksmith shop,a wagon builders shop and a dance hall.Residents throughout this area traveled to Taison for dances.Taison faded away when Thornton became an important stage stop.
