The little village of White River , ten miles east of Delano , was founded as a gold camp in the 1850s. First called Dog Town, its named was changed to the more respectable title of White River. Among the points of interest are two cemeteries—one north of the river for regular citizens, and small one south of the river for the town toughs who died violently.
