MONTEZUMA

NAME: Montezuma
COUNTY: Summit
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 2
CLIMATE: Cold winter with snow, cool summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT:
Summer
COMMENTS: Adjacent to Keystone ski resort the town was re-incorporated in the 1980's to create zoning to keep the growning Keystone resort from entering their town. A paved road leads to the town but turns to dirt at the Town line. Several old buildings remain including the old school house where Town meetings are still held. The ghost town of St. Johns is nearby and serves tourists brave enough to drive the roads to find it. Montazuma is off Route 6 between Dillon and Loveland.
REMAINS: General store, school house, resident housing.
Current population less than 75. Perhaps less than 50. Submitted by Lou Harmin.
