The Salt Works was est. in 1885, a.k.a. Colorado Salt Works. It was the gathering area for Buffalo and Antelope herds that attracted many hunters to the area. J. C. Fuller ordered boilers for the making of commercial salt in 1861 which he sold to miners as “Pike Peak Salt”. J.L. ”Father” Dyer who is buried near the London Mine has been known frequent the Salt Works. The Salt Works has been worked by one family for over 140 years. Submitted by Jim Montoya |
