NAME: Smuggler COUNTY: San Miguel ROADS: 4wd GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Snow in Winter, pleasant summer. BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer only! |
COMMENTS:
Just below the tomboy, 3 miles from Pandora (straight uphill) - on the Imogene pass road. REMAINS: Many mining remnants and a few cabins and buildings. |
Smuggler was a tiny camp built around the Smuggler mine. There was at peak population about two to three hundred residents. Smuggler had a post office and a commissary. The mines closed in 1928 but some residents remained. Today, no one lives at Smuggler. Only what is left of a great town and mine remain. Submitted by: Todd Underwood
