Thomasville was a station on the Colorado Midland Railroad and was also a settlement around the St. Louis and Colorado Smelter. The Bessie mine was just outside of town and provided ore to smelt. The smelter closed down in 1892. From 1912 to 1915 Thomasville was a construction town for the Colorado Power companies power line from Glenwood Springs to Denver. Thomasville was also a farming community.
