The name "Uravan" is a combination of uranium and vanadium. Began in the early 1900's and was formally deserted in 1986. At one time, the town had nearly 1,000 residents. Because of the falling prices of uranium, the town began to die. When discovered that the townsite was radioactive because of the mill tailings, the town was razed except for two remaining buildings, which are fenced off. Submitted by: Adam
