Webster was a shipping station that was important in the development of the Breckenridge area. It lies at the foot of a pass builit by William Emerson Webster in 1878 in partnership with the Montezuma Silver Mining Co. For years it was the chief route from Denver to the Snake River Mining District. The pass is covered by snow much of the year. As other passes were developed, this one lost its importance and the town died. |
