LITTLE PEOPLE VILLAGE

NAME: Little People Village
COUNTY: Fairfield
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: fall
BEST TIME TO VISIT: any season
COMMENTS: If you are driving on I-84 west, and get off exit 17 and take a left at the first light, then take the fist right turn, which will look like you are going to where houses are, but if you keep traveling down the road, it will stop. park your car and walk maybe a mile or so. then take a right into the woods and look around. It's very creepy, and i always get an uneasy feeling when i go there.
REMAINS: little houses, kind of like doll houses and a throne like chair made from carved rock, and a big normal house thats run down

Long ago a man built a house and lived by himself. He then began to hear voices in his head. so what he did was built little houses for the voices that he had heard.he built the throne for one of the voices had told him to. From all the voices he went insane and died in his house, and now where his property used to be you can hear little voices and see their homes and the mans. Submitted by: unknown

I just visited your site about ghost towns of CT. It is 9:23 PM on Monday, June 11, 2001. GREAT SITE! However, there are a few things wrong with the site on Little People Town. I am from Watertown (right next to Waterbury) and live about 10 min. from the place. I have been there several times. My last visit was about 3 months ago. First of all, it is called "Little People Village." I've never heard anyone call it Little People Town. The legend also includes something about his wife, but it's different depending on who you ask. Some say that he killed his wife in that throne. Others say that it was vice-versa. Some even say that his wife was a witch who tortured him and demanded that he build the town. It all changes. Next, you never mentioned that the house that he lived in is still there. Well, the foundation is, anyway. The stone foundation is covered in leaves and whatnot, and there's still a stone staircase leading down into what was his basement. This is the best part of Little People Village. I have never been down, but it's creepy as all hell. Finally, your directions are a little off. Take I-84 to exit 17 going in either direction. When you get off the exit, take rt. 63 North. From either exit, it should be easy to find. I believe getting off I-84 West, the exit puts you right on it. Then, at the first light, take a left. Then it's the first LEFT. This left is IMMEDIATELY after the light, and it sort of forks off of the main road. It is a dead end. Park at the end, and walk the path at the end. Be on the lookout for a small path on your left leading into the woods. Little People Village is only a few dozen yards into the woods. It's neat. I hope this helps. Your site is awesome. I am currently planning on an expedition to Dudleyville. I want to film it and create a website based just on that. Mark Edmund Boisvert

I finally went to Little Peoples Village this Saturday (1/25/03). Both sets of directions on this site are somewhat incorrect. I only found it after knocking on the door of a house "near" where I thought it should be (as luck would have it, the guy that lived there knew exactly where it was). The directions are correct up to a point, they say off of 63 to "at the first light, take a left. Then it's the first LEFT" this is not correct, you would make a RIGHT & an immediate RIGHT again... however this is now private property & you can not drive on this road. Best way to find Little Peoples Village is if you are on 63, pass (go under) 84. Or from 84, get off on 63 north. Just past the 63/84 "intersection" heading north you will see a restaurant on the left ( only 1/10th mile past 84 & it is the first left). park at the restaurant (sorry, I can't remember the name). From the restaurant, cross to the other side of 63, you will see what looks like a dirt driveway & a single house - there are also plenty of NO TRESPASSING signs ;-).. ignore them & walk down the driveway, past the house and you will come to a open area full of old cars and stuff. Look to your left and there will be a hill or embankment, you will need to climb to the top of this hill and at the top you will be on an access road. Continue in the same direction you were walking on this access road (only a short distance) till it dead ends. Little People Village is only a few dozen yards to the left in the woods. About half of the original big house is still there (made of stone) and one of the Little People's Houses still remains intact. Incidentally, the Little People's Houses are made of stone & steel and contain quite a bit of detail. There's actually allot to see if you explore the entire property. Unfortunately the throne was destroyed some time ago by the property owners because they were tired of people going back there. I'd still recommend going though!
