COMMENTS: There are about 20 year-round residents. 5 miles northwest of Laurel. There is a ferry that ran in the early 1800s closed around 1870 and reopened in the 1970s. It still runs today.
REMAINS: Church, Several homes, and some foundations
The town began as an agricultural hub in the 1820s. A ferry was built later. Later in the 1800s the development of larger farming communities caused all but a handful of residents to stay and soon the ferry closed. In the 1970s the town sprung to life again and the population is now about 20. The ferry was reopened and still runs when conditions are good. Submitted by: WJ McKelvey
