COMMENTS: Now a State Park called O'Leno. U.S. 41 South in Columbia County. Beautiful Park on the Sante Fe River. Many Cabins and Lodges w/swinging bridge over the river.
REMAINS: None of the original town.
Leno once had the name of Keno, known as the gambling game. I was changed to Leno about 1876 to change the reputation of the gambling town. Originally there was a hotel, stores, a sawmill, and several homes. When the railroad bypassed Leno the town gradually began to die. Local residents started calling the abandoned town "Old Leno". As a State Park it uses the contraction of O'Leno. Submitted by: Mike Woodfin
