On the Savannah River, where state 275 deadends, sits the ghost town of New Ebenezer. The town was settled in 1736 by Salzburg Lutherans. They built the first rice mill in the nation and started the culture of silk. Hidden in a thick forest, the town was destroyed by the British during the Revolultionary War.
