KLONDIKE

COMMENTS: On county road A20. Turn just before the Big Sioux River bridge on gravel, or just after the bridge on the South Dakota side, narrow asphalt road. REMAINS: Mill dam, Mill foundation, a few old house or buisness foundations. Steel trus bridge over the river for pedestrian use only

The mill was most likely the mainstay of the town. It also had a general store and a dance hall. I remember going there as a kid in the early '60's. The store, mill, and dance hall still stood. Possibly some old houses. As I recall, fire took the store, but not sure what happened to the other buildings. The bridge still draws many visitors and fishermen. Submitted by: Doug
