COMMENTS:
Located on U.S. Highway 6 about 8 miles east of Council Bluffs. Located at the intersection with County Road L52. Number of residents is in the single digits. REMAINS: The Quick Store and Eastern Order (Mason) Lodge, three or four farmsteads |
Quick, though never incorporated, had a post office from 1890 to 1904. At its height, the town also had a high school and a dance hall. The maximum number of residents reached about 29 in the early 1900s. I assume the town died out because the post office closed. The Quick Store, a little mom and pop grocery store, sits on the south side of the highway, while the Mason lodge is located across the road to the north. The town got its unusual name from the man who plotted out the town in the late 1800's. Submitted by: Paula Beebe |
