BEST TIME TO VISIT:

COMMENTS: A long walk.
REMAINS: Foundations.

For those who don’t mind a leisurely walk of about five miles along an old wagon road, a visit to Iron Springs and Paradise would be in order. From the lack of mining results at Iron Springs, it would appear the Iron Springs Mining Company was more interested in mining the pockets of the stockholders than in mining their placer claims. Because the town had electric power, it was quite a fancy settlement with about twenty-five homes, a hotel, saloons, stores and other buildings. Given its remote location and transportation problems, this is quite surprising but true. About a half-mile below Iron Springs along Paradise Creek was the sister community of Paradise. Most of the buildings in the town have been flattened by snow and weather but some are still standing in both towns.
