Past Iron Springs about six miles by trail is the mining town of Rankins Mill. Tunnel entrances, abandoned ore carts and the remains of a mill show that mining activity was once attempted but without much success. A few buildings remain but are losing out to the elements as are the cabins that once housed the miners.
