there is some foundations left of ruby city.  these stones look to be close to one ton rocks and cut extremely well as they used no mortar on many of them.  there are square nails around area and some china plate pieces to be found, occasionaly a old used opium bottle turns up as well.  to get to the foundations go one mile below silver city to the public bathrooms at the intersection, park and walk down the road to the left of the restrooms and follow smaller road to the right behind and below the restrooms there are several foundations along this road on both sides waiting to have their pictures taken - Clint Kaae
Ruby City was located along Jordan Creek about a mile below Silver City. The past tense is used because there is practically nothing left to designate the site of Ruby City except the white stone markers in its cemetery that can be seen on a ridge against a background of junipers. The town was the first county seat of Owyhee County and was born to serve the rich mines in the vacinity. In 1867, the county seat was moved to Silver City along with the better buildings and the end was in sight for Ruby City.
