New Shawneetown is located along Illinois
Rte 13, and consists mainly of auto service businesses. Old Shawneetown
is west and north of the highway, has a few residents in the old homes;
most of its population today is squatters in trailers. REMAINS: Many abandoned buildings and stores; the most prominent among them is the old brick school. |
