| Post office was established in 1837. Villiage was not actually platted untill 1847. Before 1840 the villiage had several fine homes, a mercantile, a hotel, a boot and shoe maker, a wagon manufactory, a blaksmith shop, a tailor shop, a doctors office, a harness maker, a Scool, and a church.
