Look for the remains of the Hollister Hotel. It's a large stone basement. REMAINS: Hollister Hotel basement and several other foundation holes in area. Also see the levy that was built in 1856. |
Built in 1856 with a high population of 2000. It was a steamboat stop just North of Fort Leavenworth. The Railroad bypassed the town in the mid 1860's, so people started moving to Atchison, Kansas where the rail-line built. Submitted by: James Lee |
