COMMENTS:
Threshing Machine Canyon is located in the state lake of Cedar Bluff. REMAINS: The lake puts out a flyer and is identified by markers. |
In 1867 a Blufton stage station running the Butterfield trail was a stop off for a party of freighters transporting a threshing machine bound for Salt Lake City. Instead of camping in the open prairie the chose to put up camp under the bluff/canyon opposite a rocky ravine. Indians had been watching the men and later killed and scalped all of the men, they then set the threshing machine on fire. Submitted by: Sarah Jones |
