CATAMOUNT

NAME: Catamount
COUNTY: Franklin
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 2
CLIMATE: Perfect summer, Buried in snow in winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: During dry summer when water is low
COMMENTS:  This site was the first place in our country where a US flag was flown over a public school.
REMAINS: Large number of ruins
A large plaque embedded in stone marks the exact spot. Many cellar holes and former mill sites remain.  Motor vehicles are not allowed so a walking tour is a must. Very mystical and storied place. Some family names dating back into the 1700's include Davenport and Stacy.
