NAME: Seewhy COUNTY: Chippewa ROADS: 2WD GRID: 2 CLIMATE: Cold, snowy winters; warm summers BEST TIME TO VISIT: Late Spring to early Fall |
COMMENTS:
Seewhy is located along an abandoned DSS&SA RR line, about half-way between Eckerman (on M-123) and Hulbert (north of Hulbert Corners, on M-28). REMAINS: Nothing. |
Seewhy had a sawmill and a general store, both of which belonged to a C.Y. Bennett, who named the settlement after himself; he managed to get a post office in 1915, but as the timber business faded, the population left, and the post office closed in 1927. Submitted by: Kurt Wenner |
