NAME: Soo Junction COUNTY: Luce ROADS: 2WD GRID: 2 CLIMATE: Cold, snowy winters; warm summers BEST TIME TO VISIT: Late Spring to early Fall |
COMMENTS:
Located north of M-28, on County Road 381 (good quality dirt track. REMAINS: Two small shacks--one of tar paper, and one of wood. |
Founded in 1893 as a stop on the DSS&A Railroad, the settlement began to grow and eventually had a saloon and hotel (though fewer than 75 inhabitants). By the 1920s, it had essentially become a ghost town. However, it continues to live in history because, it is said, it is the home of the original "Toonerville Trolley". Submitted by: Kurt Wenner |
