Prattsville was first settled in 1856 by Jacob Shirk. The post office opened in 1860 and the town was renamed Clayton. There was a store, blacksmith shop, school, creamery, a few houses and a Baptist Church. In 1899 the church, blacksmith and post office all closed. By 1906, the creamery closed, too. The school was remodeled into a house. Submitted by: Nate Sparks |
