GUCKEEN

NAME: Guckeen COUNTY: Martin ROADS: 4WD GRID: 5 CLIMATE: Snow in winter, hot in summer BEST TIME TO VISIT: Spring summer and early fall

COMMENTS: It's east of Fairmont and there's a sign that say Guckeen. REMAINS: A bar, a church a few houses. Grain elevator still in use.

I'm not so sure how Guckeen got started or why it's so nearly deserted. The way it looks, with all the farm land around, it was at one time a farming town and possibly it just stayed small. If I read right, it was founded in 1856. If anyone has more information about Guckeen Minnesota, feel free to add more. Submitted by: Kimberly Perryman
