Hematite found in 1867. a old rail road town.the railroad was built in 1857 and ten years later hematite was founded.a ghost haunts hematite.it is farther up the road.her name is the goat lady.she sold goat milk to make people feel better.she had a heart attack in her house, and the house was set on fire. and she still looks after her farm.all i know there was a running general store in the 1940's.i guess you can find out more history.hematite was named after the iron ore color in the joacum creek.
