COMMENTS:
Kirk is about 6 miles east of Kennett MO. on State Hwy 84/412 . Sets just west of the Little River Drainage Distric. ( Known as the Floodways ). The Missouri-Pacific Railroad ran right through the middle of the town. REMAINS: The train tracks and 4 hugh railroad trusels are what remains of the town. |
There were about 100 people at one time, It was a sawmill town. When all the big cyprus trees were cut in Southeast, MO. People had to go to the bigger towns to work. The last house was tore down to plant more Cotton about 1970. Submitted by: Harold D. McElwrath |
